Pongal

It’s literary meaning “bubbling”, “overflowing”, also indicates abundance, sharing and finally symbolizes the most important festival of Tamils. Pongal is also rich in memories: smells of ears of fresh rice, sugar cane, bananas, and fresh vegetables, the scent of boiled milk and rice mixed with molasses; in short, the joy of celebration and the sharing of the generosity of nature.

Dance
Classical dance is inseparable from culture. Bharathanatyam, Indian and Tamil classical dance, comes from the Vedas and Natyashastra, the sacred collection where the dramatic art is codified. The religious aspect is very present in this dance.
